I plugged in ECU Talk, started the engine, then loosened the adjustment bolts on the TPS. Tried rotating it around until the voltage was right AND the switch was closed. Tried to go a little further (after the switch closed) and the voltage was out of spec. Rotated it back to get the voltage in spec, and my switch was still randomly opening and closing. So then I unplugged the oval TPS connector per the instructions here and was able to get it to settle down. When I set the TPS a few years ago (before I purchased the OBD connector) I just followed the instructions under the ones above, using a voltmeter. Obviously it was not perfect. The good thing about using a computer to set it is you do it with the engine running and can be positive that the switch is staying closed.
